Employee Attrition

Economist Dr. Roelof Botha, compiler of the ACI, “expressed anticipation that 2024 would be a highly favourable year for construction. Factors such as the focus on renewable energy, the urgency to address logistical challenges, government spending on roads and other projects ahead of the election, and sustained growth in new capital formation were identified as key drivers for the sector. Additionally, the potential for lower interest rates in early 2024 and the launch of the fifth phase of the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) were seen as further catalysts for construction growth”.

Mekan Group, as an Employer of Choice, we are elated to achieve Attrition Rate of 4% from Q3 & Q4 of FY2023/4. We’re looking forward to much implementation Employee Value Proposition Program to ensure that we maintain the favourable Attrition Rate in the coming Financial Years.

Performance Management System

We have noticed that with the launch of electronic PMS, employees are familiarizing themselves with it. Hoping to have everyone to complete their final review on the Program.

The reviews are crucial towards salary increase and other recognition programs. We encourage all employees to Login into the ISTRATGO system to explore it. If you need assistance, please contact hr@mekanes.co.za.

Laboratory upgrade C007

The Kimberley office led Mark Setaro as project leader has been assisting SPU with the upgrade of various laboratories. The current C007 lab is being upgraded to meet BSL2 Laboratory Classification. From a mechanical engineering perspective this includes VRF hybrid AHU with a 95 percent dust spot efficiency at 600Pa. The AHU are interfaced with the Fume cupboards to ensure the pressure relationships required in the labs always remains constant.

All AHU's come with EC Plug fans and full BMS controls. Other services being provided include fire (fire protection, fire engineering and sprinklers systems) and gas (University laboratory gasses and fume cupboards). The design was approved by the client at the end of last year and currently installation is taking place onsite.

TECH CORNER

Exciting News: Acquisition of LIDAR Scanner

We are thrilled to announce a significant advancement in our technological capabilities. As part of our ongoing commitment to innovation and
staying at the forefront of our industry, we have recently acquired a LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) scanner.

LIDAR technology represents a significant leap forward for our company, allowing us to gather highly detailed and accurate spatial data with unprecedented precision. This investment not only enhances our ability to deliver exceptional products and services but also positions us as leaders in our field.

The applications of LIDAR are vast and varied, ranging from topographic mapping and urban planning to building scanning (eg As-builts and Clash detection) and infrastructure development. With this cutting-edge tool at our disposal, we are confident that we will be able to tackle even the most complex projects with greater efficiency and effectiveness.

In the coming weeks, we will be identifying those who will be working directly with the LIDAR scanner and setting up training with the vendor. Our aim is ensuring that everyone involved has the knowledge and skills needed to leverage this technology to its fullest potential. We are incredibly excited about the possibilities that the LIDAR scanner brings, and we look forward to exploring new opportunities and pushing the boundaries of what is possible together as a team.
